I got the juice, I got the juuuiiiccee.

Besides this being the perfect way to reference Chance the Rapper’s “Juice” song, it’s also a new venture that I’m trying out soon! Juice cleansing is a great way to give your digestive system a rest as well as provide plenty of nutrients that are fantastic for the body. A lot of people think it’s not healthy to go on extended juice cleanses, but it can be very beneficial for your health.

Lately, I’ve been reading articles about juicing, what it can do for the body, and all of the benefits. A good layout on how to do a juice cleanse can be found at Project Juice’s site. Overall, I’ve found a common thread in juicing and what people can get out of it:

  • Giving your digestive system a rest
  • Healthy vitamins and minerals
  • Hydration
  • More energy

Digestive System Rests

I love fast food. It’s a shame, and I’m not the proudest of it, but it tastes good and it’s fast. However, I know that eating fast food a couple of times a week is no way to live and it can be harsh to the digestive tract. Juice cleanses are all liquid, which passes through the digestive system quickly and doesn’t put too much work on the intestines to do their thing.

Healthy Vitamins + Minerals

Fruits and veggies contain a lot of great nutrients that we can be missing from a normal day-to-day diet (depending on what your diet consists of). Juicing is a way that can bring in those elements without it being too difficult. I know that I’d rather make a juice with kale and fruit rather than eat kale by itself.

A lot of time we don’t realize how dehydrated we can actually be until we drink more water or do a juice cleanse. Fruits and veggies contain a lot of water, and if you’re drinking water in addition to doing a juice cleanse you are more likely to feel that much more hydrated. It shows in your skin!

More Energy

There may be times when you feel as though you’re dragging through a juice cleanse because you aren’t consuming as many calories as you usually would. However, once you get the hang of it and get through the first few days, the nutrients from the juice should provide plenty of energy for you to go on throughout the day.
